Donald Trump has finally addressed a lingering online debate about his Oval Office makeover: was the gold décor genuine or a discounted pick from a home improvement aisle?

In a two-part interview for The Ingraham Angle, the 79-year-old president guided Fox News’ Laura Ingraham through the White House, including a look at the revamped Oval Office. A clip from the tour was shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Since the start of his second term in January, Trump has overseen numerous renovations at the White House. The Oval Office, in particular, has been reimagined with gold decals and statuary designed to mimic the lavish aesthetic of Mar-a-Lago, his famous Palm Beach club.

“You know the one thing with gold? You can’t imitate gold, real gold. There’s no paint that imitates gold,” Trump said during the tour. That prompted Ingraham to reply, “So these aren’t, like, from Home Depot?”

“No, this is not Home Depot stuff. This is not Home Depot,” Trump said firmly.

Her question referenced an earlier rumor that began circulating months ago after Trump showcased his updated Oval Office. Some online critics claimed the ornate additions might have been inexpensive plastic pieces from a home improvement store, spray-painted to look high-end — with one person even spotting a similar decoration priced at just over $58.

In a previous segment reported by Inside Edition, Trump praised the makeover, saying the space “becomes more and more beautiful with love — you know, we handle it with great love — and 24-karat gold. That always helps, too.”

Addressing the viral theory head-on, Ingraham captioned the latest clip: “In the Oval Office with President Trump and can confirm that it is REAL gold!”

The interview also highlighted Trump’s other changes around the White House grounds. He showed Ingraham the construction site of a new ballroom on the east side of the property, the redesigned Rose Garden — now renamed “The Rose Garden Club at the White House” — and his Presidential Walk of Fame.

Trump said he deserved credit for the Walk of Fame, remarking, “Everything’s my idea, sadly.”

One detail stood out: former President Joe Biden’s portrait was missing. In its place was an image of an autopen machine, with Trump labeling Biden “the worst president in the history of our country.”
