An English man has admitted to killing his wife by drowning her in their outdoor hot tub last November, following a night out together and a subsequent attempt to mislead police.
Andrew Georgiou, 44, pleaded guilty on Tuesday at Aylesbury Crown Court to the Nov. 2, 2024 murder of his wife, Carol Georgiou. The admission came after prosecutors outlined how the couple returned home from an evening out before the fatal incident occurred.
In court, Georgiou acknowledged that he drowned his 42-year-old wife in the hot tub at their home in Milton Keynes, approximately 50 miles northwest of London. He then waited about 40 minutes before calling emergency services to report the situation.
Authorities said Georgiou initially claimed he had gone outside and found his wife unresponsive in the water, a statement he later admitted was false. The delay in contacting emergency services and the misleading account formed part of the case against him.
Georgiou is scheduled to be sentenced on March 6, 2026.
“This is a tragic case and my thoughts and the thoughts of Thames Valley Police remain with Carol Georgiou’s loved ones at this difficult time,” said Detective Inspector Michael Roddy of Thames Valley Police in a statement.
Following Georgiou’s arrest in July, Carol’s family released a statement remembering her as a devoted mother who “cherished her role as a mother to her sons and brought joy and laughter wherever she went.”
“Her passing has left a deep void in our family, and we are struggling to imagine life without her,” the family said. “We will always treasure her warm smile, loving embraces and witty sense of humor.”
