In a recent Reddit post, an anonymous user shared a tense run-in at a local park with a woman she described as an influencer — an encounter that has since stirred up plenty of debate online.
“Before I’m on a boomer gone wild, I’m going to tell my side,” she began, explaining that what started as a quiet Sunday afternoon at the playground with her “great-grandchildren and cousins,” ages 4 to 8, quickly turned uncomfortable.
According to her account, she was supervising the children when she noticed a woman filming herself with a phone and tripod near the playground equipment. Wanting to be considerate, she says she told the kids to walk around the filming setup so they wouldn’t get in the way.
Before she could catch up to them, though, the woman allegedly began “yelling at the kids,” claiming they were “ruining things” by entering her shot.
Taken aback, the poster says she stepped in and told the woman not to “yell at my kids.” The woman, whom the Reddit user refers to as an influencer, reportedly replied that she was “creating” and insisted that the children were “ruining her shot” and would “have to leave.”

When the Reddit user calmly repeated that the woman should not yell at the children, the exchange turned personal. The woman questioned whether the kids were really hers, saying: “There is no way they are your kids.”
The Reddit user noted that one of the children is biracial, suggesting that the remark felt, at best, insensitive and, at worst, racially loaded.
“I got a little mad, I said very calmly, ‘They are with me, they are my kids and don’t yell at my kids,’ ” she wrote. At that point, the influencer packed up her gear and walked off — but not before tossing over her shoulder, “Ok boomer.”
“Who would have thunk it, a nice Sunday afternoon and kids wanting to play at the playground,” the poster concluded. “I hope the rest of her week goes better.”
The story quickly drew strong reactions in the comments, with many users siding firmly with the caregiver and criticizing the influencer’s behavior.

“Honestly, nothing ruins a park day faster than someone treating a playground like a photo studio and forgetting it’s a place for kids to be kids,” one commenter wrote. “Glad you stood up for those little humans — people need to chill and remember parks aren’t just for ‘content creation,’ they’re for fun and laughter.”
Another user emphasized the public nature of the space, adding, “I’m sorry, but does she own the park? Lady, you’re out in public, not on a studio set. People are allowed to use the park, and if your shot gets ruined, that’s on you, not the public.”
