Vice President JD Vance’s family getaway to Disneyland turned into a political spectacle over the weekend, as his visit was met with protests, viral mockery, and a jab from California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Vance, who traveled to the California theme park with his wife, Usha Vance, and their two children, was targeted by demonstrators criticizing the administration’s recent immigration raids. Protesters reportedly gathered outside the family’s hotel, voicing outrage over the timing of his vacation amid stepped-up enforcement actions in the state.

On social media, videos of Vance at the park quickly circulated, with users mocking his distinctive running style. Some critics dubbed him “JD Prance,” likening his movement to a character from Pirates of the Caribbean. One viral post quipped, “JD Vance is running like a kid late to a Dungeons & Dragons tournament who forgot his dice.”

Governor Newsom joined the pile-on with a sarcastic post on X: “Hope you enjoy your family time, JD Vance. The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t.” The vice president, unfazed, responded curtly: “Had a great time, thanks.

Despite the backlash, many supporters came to Vance’s defense, calling the ridicule unfair. “JD Vance running after his kid at Disney is the most normal dad thing ever,” one user posted. “Be grateful our VP and Second Lady are human and good parents.”

Another wrote, “How is a dad chasing after his kid some kind of scandal? This is what normal looks like.”

While the online debate raged on, Vance made no further comment, leaving his brief reply as his only statement on the matter.
