Judge Judy isn’t sugarcoating it. When asked about the upcoming cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the former TV judge delivered one of her trademark reality checks—and it had nothing to do with Donald Trump.
Caught by TMZ in New York on Tuesday, Judy Sheindlin made her position crystal clear: Colbert’s exit in May has more to do with declining profits than political interference.
“CBS is a business,” she said. “They’re in it to make money. If the show’s not delivering, they’ll cut it—simple as that. Otherwise, they’d open themselves up to lawsuits.”
While online chatter has speculated that Trump may have influenced the network’s decision—especially given Paramount’s pending merger with Skydance Media still awaiting FCC approval—Judge Judy dismissed the theory outright.
Meanwhile, the Trump-Colbert feud has only intensified. After Trump mocked the show’s cancellation on social media, Colbert shot back on-air, telling the former president to “go f*** yourself.”
But Judge Judy isn’t getting caught up in the drama. She says CBS simply made a business decision—and as for Colbert, she’s confident he’ll bounce back:
“He’ll land on his feet. He’s too talented not to.”
In classic Judge Judy fashion, she cuts through the noise and reminds everyone of the bottom line—money talks.
