Military officials have initiated an administrative review after viral footage surfaced showing a U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter maneuvering at low altitude over the private estate of musician Kid Rock.

The incident occurred Saturday, March 28, the same day as nationwide “No Kings” protests targeted the Trump administration. While the 101st Airborne Division maintains the flight was “entirely coincidental” to the political unrest, the Army is now investigating whether the crew violated strict aviation safety standards or airspace regulations.

Major Montrell Russell, a spokesperson for the Army, confirmed the launch of a formal assessment to verify the mission’s compliance with military protocols.

“Army aviators must adhere to strict safety standards, professionalism, and established flight regulations,” Russell stated. He emphasized that the military will take “appropriate action” should the investigation uncover any violations of standard operating procedures during the Nashville-area flight.

The 101st Airborne Division, based at nearby Fort Campbell, Kentucky, initially defended the presence of two Apache gunships, characterizing the event as part of a standard training route.

The 55-year-old singer, a prominent surrogate for President Donald Trump, posted two videos to X (formerly Twitter) documenting the encounter. In the footage, Kid Rock is seen applauding and saluting the attack helicopter as it hovers near his outdoor pool before departing.

The musician captioned the post with a direct jab at California Governor Gavin Newsom, contrasting the military’s presence with what he described as a lack of respect from the Democratic leader.

The timing of the flight has intensified public scrutiny. Millions of Americans participated in “No Kings” marches on Saturday, organized by progressive coalitions to protest the current administration’s policies. Kid Rock’s vocal support for the President—including a recent headline performance at Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show”—frequently places him at the center of the nation’s cultural and political divide.

Military officials are now tasked with determining if the flight crew engaged in “flat-hatting”—an aviation term for unauthorized low-level flying or displaying maneuvers for personal reasons or public attention.

A spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division reiterated that the command takes all concerns regarding aircraft operations seriously. “The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell maintain strict standards for aviation safety and professionalism,” the spokesperson told local outlets.

The Army has not yet provided a timeline for the completion of the review.
