Two girls from Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico, who were reported missing after allegedly being contacted by a man through the online game Roblox’s chat feature, have been found alive, authorities said.
Mary Beabey, 16, and Sabine Yohumi, 10, were located at the East Passenger Bus Terminal (TAPO) in Mexico City after being missing for about a week, according to a statement shared by the Municipal Government of Nezahualcóyotl on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Officials said an investigation indicated a man had allegedly communicated with the minors via Roblox, and that interaction was believed to have prompted the girls to leave their home in Nezahualcóyotl.

Authorities initially checked an address in Campeche connected to the case but did not find the children there. Later, after receiving information from a family member, police located Beabey and Yohumi at the TAPO terminal. Officials believed the girls had traveled to Mexico City from Campeche.
“According to the information gathered, it is presumed that their absence was voluntary,” police said. After they were found, the girls were cared for by specialized personnel, authorities added.

Police in Campeche, the Commission of Searching Persons of the State of Mexico, and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office assisted in the investigation.
Mexican newspaper El Universal reported the girls are sisters, and that their parents obtained security footage showing them leaving their home on Jan. 9 with suitcases. The outlet also reported that the parents believed the girls had been lured away.
Missing-person reports were active while the girls were unaccounted for.
