Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s high-profile partnership with Netflix is coming to an end.
According to The Sun, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not renew their multi-year, $100 million production deal with the streaming giant when it expires this September. A source confirmed to PEOPLE that the decision marks a shift in Netflix’s content strategy, which is moving away from broad, high-value deals like the one signed with the Sussexes in 2020.
“There’s no animosity from either side,” the source told The Sun. “Things have just run their course.”
While the contract is ending, this doesn’t rule out future collaborations. Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan is still active on the platform, with a second season already filmed and scheduled to premiere this fall. The series, which features the Duchess sharing lifestyle tips and interviews with friends like Mindy Kaling, briefly made Netflix’s global Top 10 list after its debut in March.

Despite the initial buzz, viewership numbers suggest diminishing returns. Netflix’s latest Engagement Report ranked With Love, Meghan at No. 383 with 5.3 million views, while Polo, a documentary executive produced by the couple, drew just 500,000 views, landing at No. 3,436. However, the couple’s 2022 Harry & Meghan docuseries remains Netflix’s most-watched documentary debut to date.
Netflix previously underwent a similar transition with Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground, moving from a broad production deal to a more limited first-look agreement. That deal, like Harry and Meghan’s, was also rumored to be worth around $100 million.
Still, Meghan’s brand remains active. Her lifestyle label As Ever—launched alongside the Netflix series—is backed in part by Netflix’s consumer products division. CEO Ted Sarandos previously described the company as a “passive partner” in the venture, calling it an opportunity for Netflix to explore product-based storytelling.
Season two of With Love, Meghan will include appearances by guests like Chrissy Teigen and is once again directed by Michael Steed. The show is the fifth project to come from the couple’s partnership with Netflix.

Harry and Meghan signed their deal in 2020, pledging to create documentaries, scripted series, feature films, and children’s programming. At the time, they said their mission was to tell “inspirational” stories that promote hope, connection, and resilience.
Though their official deal with Netflix may be coming to a close, the Sussexes’ next media chapter remains open.
