The demonstration, featuring a robot known as Figure 03, served as the centerpiece of the “Fostering the Future Together” initiative. Walking through the Cross Hall alongside the First Lady, the machine—a product of the Silicon Valley startup Figure AI—addressed an audience of 45 international first spouses and executives from tech titans including OpenAI, Microsoft, and Meta.

In a scripted introduction, Figure 03 showcased its linguistic range by welcoming attendees in 11 languages, including Slovenian. The First Lady characterized the machine as the first “American-made humanoid guest” to be received at the White House, framing the moment as a pivot point for global education.

“The future of AI is ‘personified’—it will be formed in the shape of humans,” Mrs. Trump told the delegation in the East Room. She proposed a hypothetical AI educator named “Plato,” envisioning a personalized, 24-hour tutor capable of adapting to individual student needs across the classical sciences and arts.

The two-day summit marks the formal expansion of the First Lady’s “Be Best” platform, transitioning from digital safety to a broader focus on technological fluency. The White House confirmed the participation of representatives from over three dozen countries, including high-profile figures such as Olena Zelenska of Ukraine and Sara Netanyahu of Israel.

The initiative seeks to formalize partnerships between the public sector and “best-in-class” technology entities. Beyond the spectacle of robotics, the policy objective remains clear: securing a competitive edge in the global AI race.

“The United States is obligated to ensure that our children become the most technologically fluent and highly educated generation in the world,” Mrs. Trump asserted. She argued that the efficiencies gained from AI in commerce, healthcare, and food security are essential to maintaining “long-term economic superiority.”

While the summit’s first day saw only a brief appearance by the First Lady, Wednesday’s hour-long roundtable suggested a more hands-on approach to upcoming tech-focused legislation.
