First lady Melania Trump has unveiled her own film production company, Muse Films, debuting the venture alongside news of a high-profile documentary centered on her life and duties in the White House.
The film, titled MELANIA, is slated for a global theatrical release on January 30, 2026. “PRESENTING: MUSE FILMS. My new production company,” Trump wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “MELANIA, the film, exclusively in theaters worldwide on January 30th, 2026.”
The announcement, made Friday on social media, marks her most prominent solo initiative since re-emerging on the national stage as first lady in 2025.
Why It Matters
In a previous appearance on Fox & Friends, Trump described the documentary as an intimate portrait of both her public responsibilities and private life. The film was acquired by Amazon MGM Studios for a reported $40 million, one of the largest known licensing deals for a political documentary. It will receive a limited theatrical run before becoming available on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video.
What To Know
Promotional materials indicate that MELANIA focuses on the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration. The documentary reportedly follows Melania Trump’s behind-the-scenes role as she oversees inauguration preparations, sets up the First Lady’s office, and helps guide her family back into public life ahead of Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
The documentary will also feature appearances by the president and their son, Barron.
The project is directed by Brett Ratner, whose Hollywood career slowed after sexual misconduct allegations, which he has denied. Trump is credited as an executive producer. It is not yet clear whether Muse Films played a direct role in the documentary’s production or whether the new company will primarily function as a branding platform for future projects.
The licensing deal has drawn political attention, particularly around the motivations of Amazon and its founder, Jeff Bezos, whose media holdings include The Washington Post, a frequent target of Donald Trump during his first term.
According to reporting from The Wall Street Journal shortly after the deal became public, Trump was expected to receive $28 million from the agreement. As of February, she was reportedly exploring additional ways to monetize the project.
The documentary is not Amazon’s only collaboration with the Trump family this year. On March 10, the company announced that Prime Video will begin streaming The Apprentice, the reality series fronted by Donald Trump during his business career.
What People Are Saying
Trump said in an October interview with Fox & Friends: “We started the production in November, and we are shooting right now, so it’s a day-to-day life, what I’m doing, what kind of responsibilities I have.”
An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement: “We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world.”
What Happens Next
