Ann Evans, the woman who was reported missing after leaving a Holland America cruise ship in Sint Maarten, has been found safe, officials confirmed.
In a statement provided on Friday, Nov. 28, a Holland America Line spokesperson said that the 55-year-old American passenger — last seen disembarking the company’s Rotterdam ship on Nov. 20 — has been located.
“We appreciate the efforts of local authorities in Sint Maarten and we’re glad to see the situation has been resolved,” the statement said.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) also shared an update on social media announcing that the “missing person [was] located.”
“Following coordination between KPSM and other partners, contact has been made with the individual in question,” the department said on Friday, after previously issuing a missing person alert for Evans on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
“In accordance with the laws governing privacy and the protection of personal data, no additional information will be released about the individual or their circumstances. The Police Force thanks the community and its partners for their cooperation during this investigation,” the statement added.
Evans left the Rotterdam for an activity on Nov. 20 while the ship was docked in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, and did not return before the scheduled departure.
“Based on information gathered during the investigation, KPSM has reason to believe that a female matching Ms. Evans’ description checked into a hotel on the French side of the island using her passport,” the police force said on Thursday, Nov. 27.
“She has also reportedly been seen in the surrounding area of that establishment,” KPSM noted.
Evans had departed from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., aboard the Rotterdam, which made stops in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Tobago, Barbados and Puerto Rico before its scheduled return on Nov. 28, according to CruiseMapper.
