A new mom is turning to Reddit for advice after her mother-in-law repeatedly shows up uninvited to celebrate her baby’s monthly milestones — often bringing guests without warning.

The woman, who recently gave birth, shared her frustration in a candid Reddit post. “Every month-aversary, she feels the need to invite people to my apartment and show up unannounced to celebrate,” she wrote. “Sometimes she even calls my mom and invites her too — behind my back.”

What was supposed to be a quiet family tradition has become a recurring source of stress.

“I just want these days to be calm, just my husband, our baby, and me,” she said. “We both work and we’re exhausted. It’s our chance to enjoy some peace together.”

She added that she worries about the impact of the constant commotion on her newborn: “He’s a baby — he doesn’t need a party every month in a cramped apartment full of adults drinking wine.”

Other Reddit users were quick to chime in with support, many urging the mom to set clear boundaries.

“This is absolutely not okay,” one commenter wrote. “Your baby isn’t your MIL’s child. She had her time — now it’s yours.”

Another person pointed to the husband’s role: “He needs to step up and manage his mother. Ignoring her or letting it slide only makes things worse. This is interfering with your home life and your marriage.”

While the mom admits she feels guilty for being upset, she’s not alone in her frustration — and many agree it’s time for her to take back control of her space and her baby’s special moments.
