In a dramatic display of public opposition, close to one million Americans have signed a petition calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, Knewz.com has learned. The signatures—organized by Free Speech For People and Women’s March—were delivered to House Judiciary Committee leadership following a Capitol Hill press conference led by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas).
Public Pressure Mounts
Backed by a campaign titled “Impeach Trump. Again.”, the movement accuses President Trump of widespread constitutional violations and abuses of power. Speaking outside the U.S. Capitol, Rep. Green thanked the nearly one million signatories and the advocacy groups leading the push.
“His abuse of power, disregard for the Constitution, and authoritarian behavior demand a response,” Green said. “Impeachment and removal from office is the constitutional remedy for a president who has turned his back on democracy.”
Green stressed that the newly filed article of impeachment—introduced in June for Trump’s unauthorized military action in Iran—was just the beginning. He warned that the growing public outcry made it impossible for Congress to continue ignoring the issue.
‘A Threat to Democracy’
Tamika Middleton, Managing Director of Women’s March, condemned Trump for “trampling on the Constitution” and targeting communities “with cruelty and impunity.”
“Nearly a million people demanding impeachment proves we will not back down. Congress must act now to protect our freedoms and our future,” she said.
Alexandra Flores-Quilty, Campaign Director at Free Speech For People, echoed those sentiments, declaring that the American people refuse to let Trump “destroy our democracy.”
“It’s up to Congress to do its job, defend the Constitution, and remove Trump from office,” she said.
Growing Support in Congress
Rep. Green’s impeachment resolution, which centers on Trump’s alleged violation of the War Powers Clause through an unapproved military strike in Iran, has already received 78 votes in favor—a sharp increase from earlier impeachment attempts.
John Bonifaz, co-founder of Free Speech For People, argued that the Founders provided impeachment as a tool to hold lawless presidents accountable.
“The Framers anticipated this kind of abuse of power. Now it’s up to Congress to uphold their oath and defend the Constitution,” he said.
A Long List of Allegations
The “Impeach Trump Again” campaign outlines a sweeping set of charges, including:
- Unlawfully bypassing Congress’s war powers
- Deploying military force against civilian protesters
- Illegal deportations, detentions, and removals of immigrants and asylum-seekers
- Attempting to deport immigrants for peaceful protest
- Defying court orders and undermining judicial authority
- Corruptly using presidential powers for revenge
- Dismantling independent oversight agencies
- Accepting illegal foreign and domestic emoluments
- Abusing emergency powers and the pardon process
- Obstructing elections and interfering with vote certification
- Allegedly planning forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza
- Engaging in corruption during the 2024 presidential race
- Dismissing charges against political allies, including NYC Mayor Eric Adams
Supporters say this cumulative record presents a clear and present danger to U.S. democracy.
With public pressure mounting and support building in Congress, advocates warn that lawmakers can no longer afford to look the other way.
“This isn’t just a political issue,” said Bonifaz. “It’s a constitutional crisis—and Congress must act.”
