WASHINGTON — Influential podcaster Joe Rogan has publicly broken with President Donald Trump over the escalating conflict in Iran, alleging the commander-in-chief is being steered into a wider war by advisors providing curated, “TikTok-style” intelligence briefings.
During a Friday episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan suggested that the President is not receiving a comprehensive view of the Middle East theater. His comments follow reports from NBC News indicating that Trump’s daily intelligence updates have been supplemented by video montages showcasing successful U.S. military strikes.
“Nobody thinks it’s a good idea,” Rogan said of the war. “The people that tricked him into doing this in the first place don’t want him to get a full, nuanced perspective.”
A Fractured ‘America First’ Base
Rogan’s dissent highlights a growing rift within the “America First” movement. While Rogan has historically supported Trump’s populist platform, he argued that the current military action contradicts the President’s 2024 campaign promise to end “forever wars.”
Filmmaker Andrew Jarecki, appearing on the podcast, added that the President appears to be “drinking his own Kool-Aid,” preferring visual highlights over complex analytical reports.
The administration’s strategy is also facing scrutiny from within its own ideological circles. At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Friday, former White House advisor Steve Bannon warned that the U.S. stands at the “start of a war” that may soon require the insertion of American ground forces. Conversely, Secretary of State Marco Rubio maintained that U.S. objectives could be achieved through targeted operations without a large-scale troop presence.
White House and Congressional Pushback
The White House has moved quickly to dismiss claims that the President is being shielded from the realities of the conflict.
“That’s an absolutely false assertion,” said Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. She insisted that Trump “actively seeks and solicits the opinions of everyone in the room” and demands “full-throated honesty” from his cabinet.
However, transparency concerns are mounting on Capitol Hill. Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee issued a formal letter Friday decrying a “lack of clarity” regarding operational objectives. The committee is demanding an immediate hearing with Department of Defense officials to determine if ground forces are being prepared for deployment.
What’s Next
The House Armed Services Committee is expected to subpoena briefing materials to investigate the nature of the information provided to the Oval Office. President Trump has signaled he will provide further updates on the conflict over the weekend.
