Mingus Reedus, the son of Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, is facing new legal trouble after prosecutors filed additional charges related to an alleged assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The 25-year-old model was taken into custody in New York City around 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to PEOPLE. Officers at the scene reported finding a 33-year-old woman with minor injuries to her neck and leg.
Initially, Reedus was charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal obstruction of breathing, according to the NYPD. Court records later revealed three more charges: assault – recklessly causing physical injury, aggravated harassment, and harassment.
Reedus appeared before a judge that same day and entered not guilty pleas on all five counts, according to public records. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Reedus’ attorney Priya Chaudhry defended her client, insisting that “his innocence will become clear as the facts emerge.”
“Despite what the prosecutor said in court — which is not evidence — they [the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office] chose to charge Mingus with misdemeanors or less,” Chaudhry wrote. “That speaks volumes, much louder than the unsupported prosecutor’s in-court comments.”
She further emphasized that the judge released Reedus without bail or supervision. “That significant judicial decision amplifies the volume. Mingus is presumed innocent and has pled not guilty.”
Reedus has faced similar allegations before. In September 2021, he was arrested after allegedly punching a 24-year-old woman during the San Gennaro festival in New York City.
At the time, police said the woman suffered an injury below her left eye and was treated at New York’s Downtown Hospital in stable condition.
Reedus later claimed to the New York Daily News that the woman and her friends had targeted him and his group during the altercation. He eventually accepted a plea deal in March 2022 for the reduced charge of disorderly conduct.
