An Oklahoma woman lost all four of her limbs after being attacked by two dogs while riding her bike.
Janelle Scott was attacked by two pit bulls on Sept. 9 in Okmulgee, Okla., her family shared on a GoFundMe page.
News 9 spoke with Scott’s mother, Cheryl, who explained that her daughter was biking with her boyfriend when a friend’s pit bulls suddenly attacked.
Her boyfriend, riding just behind Scott, rushed to fend off the dogs before calling for help.
According to News 9, Okmulgee police reported finding Scott with “significant and severe injuries.”
Police said one of the dogs involved died during the altercation with the boyfriend.
“There is an RV-type trailer located in this area, and it is reported that the dog(s) were kept within this trailer,” police said, per 9 News. “This trailer had reportedly been broken into at some point in the evening, which may have released the animals from confinement.”
The GoFundMe page noted that Scott initially had her right arm and left leg amputated, and later required surgery to remove her remaining two limbs. The page has raised over $12,000 so far.
“Remember, we’re strong women, and we’re going to beat this,” Cheryl Scott told 9 News.
