‘Prepared to unleash hell’: US warns Iran; Tehran insists on ‘no talks’

The Trump administration escalated its rhetoric against Tehran on Wednesday, issuing a blunt ultimatum that the United States is prepared to “unleash hell” if the Iranian leadership continues to resist diplomatic terms for ending the current conflict.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered the warning during a briefing, asserting that President Donald Trump will utilize unprecedented force should Iran fail to acknowledge its strategic position. The statement follows the rejection of a formal 15-point peace proposal delivered to Tehran earlier this week.

A High-Stakes Diplomatic Deadlock

The tension centers on a comprehensive 15-point framework transmitted through Pakistani mediators on Tuesday. While the White House maintains that “talks continue” through these channels, Iranian officials have publicly characterized the situation as a stalemate.

“President Trump does not bluff,” Leavitt told reporters. “If Iran fails to accept the reality of the current moment, the President will ensure they are hit harder than they have ever been hit before. Iran should not miscalculate again.”

Tehran Signals Continued Resistance

Despite the threat of military escalation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi appeared on state television to dismiss the possibility of direct negotiations. Araghchi insisted that Tehran’s current mandate is the “continuation of resistance,” directly contradicting Washington’s claims of ongoing productive dialogue.

Araghchi clarified that while “ideas” from mediating countries are being reviewed by senior Iranian leadership, the exchange of messages does not constitute a formal negotiation. He further framed the U.S. push for a settlement as an “admission of defeat” by the Trump administration.

Strategic Context and Escalation Risks

The 15-point proposal represents the most significant diplomatic effort to de-escalate the regional crisis to date. However, the disconnect between Washington’s insistence that negotiations are active and Tehran’s public defiance suggests a narrowing window for a non-military resolution.

Intelligence analysts suggest that the “unleash hell” rhetoric indicates the U.S. may be prepared to expand its target list within Iran if the 15-point plan is formally and finally discarded. For now, the administration appears to be employing a “maximum pressure” tactic to force a concession before the mediator-led window closes.
