The family of Renee Nicole Good has pushed back against online allegations claiming the 37-year-old mother of three—who was fatally shot by an ICE agent—had a criminal history involving child abuse.

Relatives say Good was never arrested and reject claims circulating on social media that label her a “domestic terrorist,” a description they say does not match her record or her life.

“We are grieving. Heavily. And yes, we see everyone’s posts and comments. Some in support but also, the nasty ones ripping apart our beautiful and beloved Renee,” wrote Morgan Fletcher, Good’s former sister-in-law. “And we’ve seen the false claims and the wrong Renee Good’s info being posted (criminal history? She didn’t have one).”

What the allegations claim

The controversy intensified after a screenshot spread online alleging Good had been arrested for child abuse. The post was widely shared and promoted by several right-leaning accounts.

However, records reviewed by the Daily Beast indicate Good’s only documented contact with law enforcement was related to a vehicle inspection issue. The same report also notes multiple red flags suggesting the circulating screenshot is not authentic, including an incorrect age listed for Good and claims tied to a period when she was using a different surname.

At the time referenced in those posts, Good was married to Timmy Macklin Jr. and was known as Nicole Renee Macklin. She later took the surname “Good” after marrying Becca Good.

“Please remember she was a human being”

Fletcher also urged people discussing the case to consider the impact of misinformation on Good’s loved ones—especially her children.

“No matter where you stand on the issue of ICE or whether or not you think she did or didn’t deserve what happened, please remember she was a human being and she had loved ones, including children who can and will likely see all of these things about their mother, and her wife, whom she loved dearly,” Fletcher wrote in a Facebook post.

A GoFundMe set up to support Good’s family, including her six-year-old son, has raised $1.5 million.

Federal investigators have said they are examining whether Good had any connections to protester networks.
