The reward for information about the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been increased to more than $200,000, authorities said.
In a Wednesday, Feb. 18 news release, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the county’s 88-CRIME program received an anonymous $100,000 donation, allowing it to raise its reward in the case to $102,500. That amount is in addition to a separate $100,000 reward being offered by the FBI. Authorities noted that the FBI does not administer non-FBI rewards.
Earlier this month, the sheriff’s department had announced a reward of up to $2,500 for information related to Nancy’s disappearance.
Nancy was last seen on Jan. 31, and investigators believe she was kidnapped during the night of Feb. 1. An extensive search has been underway.
Investigators are also analyzing biological evidence recovered from Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson residence. The sheriff’s department said DNA profiles are currently being processed in a lab, but additional details remain part of the active investigation.
The updated reward comes after the FBI released surveillance video on Feb. 10 showing a masked, armed person appearing to tamper with a Nest camera at Nancy’s front door on the morning of the kidnapping. Authorities described the suspect as a male about 5’9” to 5’10” with an average build. In the video, he is seen wearing a black 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack that may have been purchased at Walmart.
On Tuesday, Feb. 17, the sheriff’s department said DNA taken from gloves found about two miles from Nancy’s home did not match any profiles in the national DNA database. Investigators believe the gloves were similar to those worn by the assailant.
As of Wednesday, Feb. 18, authorities said no persons of interest or suspects had been identified.

Neighbors have also shown support for the Guthrie family by tying yellow ribbons to trees, cactuses, and mailboxes near Nancy’s home. One neighbor said residents also left flowers at the front of the house, describing the ribbons as a symbol of hope and support when someone goes missing.
Savannah has been in Arizona with her family since her mother was reported missing and has posted videos on Instagram appealing for Nancy’s safe return. Authorities said this week that Savannah and her family were cleared as possible suspects.
