Law enforcement in southern Arizona has increased its presence at the home of an elderly woman reported missing late last month, following a request from her family as authorities continue to investigate what they describe as a suspected abduction.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said deputies will maintain a security presence at the Tucson residence of the woman, who is the mother of a nationally known television journalist. Officials emphasized that the measure is intended to protect the property and support the ongoing investigation.
In a brief statement, the department reminded members of the public and the media to comply with traffic and trespassing laws and said no unauthorized access to the property is permitted. Deputies have taken over monitoring duties previously handled by private security guards hired by the family.
The added security comes as investigators pursue multiple leads related to the woman’s disappearance. Authorities have said she was last seen late on the night of Jan. 31, after being dropped off at her home by relatives. When she failed to attend church the following morning, family members contacted law enforcement.

Officials have since said there are signs she may have been taken against her will. Investigators reported finding blood outside the home that was confirmed to belong to her, as well as evidence that a doorbell camera had been removed.
Search activity has extended beyond the woman’s residence. Over the weekend, deputies were observed at a nearby home belonging to another family member. Authorities have not publicly explained the focus of that search and said follow-up work is continuing at multiple locations.
Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are also reviewing messages sent to media outlets that claim to be connected to the case. Officials have not confirmed the authenticity of those communications and said no suspects or persons of interest have been identified.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact federal or local authorities as the search remains active.
