Spencer Lofranco, Actor Who Worked with Angelina Jolie and John Travolta, Dies at 33

Spencer Lofranco, the actor known for playing John Travolta’s onscreen son in the 2018 film Gotti, has died. He was 33.

News of Lofranco’s death was shared by his brother, Santino, in an Instagram post on Thursday, Nov. 20. Santino wrote that Spencer died on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

“To the legend @roccowinning. My brother. You lived a life only some could dream of,” Santino said alongside photos of the two through the years. “You changed people lives, and now you are with God. I will always love you and miss you Bear. RIP. October 18, 1992 – November 18, 2025.”

According to TMZ, Lofranco’s death is being investigated in British Columbia, Canada. Born in Toronto, he appeared in seven films between 2013 and 2018, including Angelina Jolie’s 2014 war drama Unbroken. In Gotti, he portrayed the son of real-life New York mob boss John Gotti in the biographical crime film.

In a 2014 interview with Interview magazine, Lofranco said he decided to pursue acting at 17, even though his father had hoped he’d become a hockey player or a lawyer. He studied at the New York Film Academy for a year and soon landed roles in Jamesy Boy (2014) and At Middleton (2013), his first onscreen credit. Other projects included Dixieland (2015), Home (2015), and King Cobra (2016).

Lofranco also spoke in that interview about how surreal it felt to work alongside Jolie early in his career. “Growing up, Angelina Jolie was my dream girl. Now I’m going to shoot a movie with her,” he said at the time. “It’s crazy. I tell people and they’re like, ‘Yeah… okay.’ They don’t even believe me.”

In his final Instagram post, Lofranco wrote, “The best is yet to come.”
