The New Hampshire toddler who survived after his parents and two siblings were killed in an apparent murder-suicide is now being cared for by family members following the tragic incident.
Emily Long, 34, allegedly shot her husband, Ryan Long, 48, along with their son, Parker, 8, and daughter, Ryan, 6, before taking her own life at their home in Madbury, N.H., on Aug. 18, according to the state’s attorney general’s office.
The youngest child was found unharmed in the home. In an interview with WMUR, Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati confirmed that the toddler is now with relatives.
Neighbors told the New Hampshire Union Leader that Ryan Long had been diagnosed with brain cancer prior to his death. On her now-private TikTok page, Emily described herself as a “Brain Cancer Wife” and referred to her account as a “personal diary” that was “cheaper than therapy.”
In her final post, Emily admitted she had been struggling with depression amid her family’s challenges.
“I’m making a point to get out of my depression and do this for my family,” she said in the video.
Authorities in New Hampshire have urged the public not to speculate about what led to the killings.
“While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor,” the attorney general’s office stated.
