A Pennsylvania 18-year-old is accused of shooting his parents one day after Christmas — an attack that left his mother dead and his father wounded, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers responded to a report of a shooting at a home on Garrison Road in Freeport Township at about 1:58 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, Pennsylvania State Police said. At the scene, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she later died.

Police also found an adult man at the home with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the same hospital and later released in stable condition, state police said.

Investigators determined the victims were husband and wife. Authorities identified their son, Jarrod Noll, 18, as the suspect.

After the shooting, Noll allegedly ran from the area on foot. State police said they searched nearby terrain but did not locate him that day. A manhunt followed, with authorities warning the public that the suspect could be armed and dangerous and advising people not to approach him.

In an update posted on X at 6:01 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, Pennsylvania State Police said Noll was taken into custody by West Virginia State Police without incident.

Pennsylvania State Police Sergeant Richard Sizer said the search involved tracking dogs, helicopters, and officers on foot, according to CBS News. “Obviously, when you have someone on the run with a homicide warrant, on the run with a gun, it is a huge danger to the community,” Sizer said.

State police said Noll’s younger siblings were home at the time, though the shooting occurred outside the residence, CBS News reported. The children are now in the custody of a family member.

Noll is being held in West Virginia while awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. He has been charged with homicide and attempted homicide, according to CBS News.
