Victoria Jones’ cause of death has been confirmed more than a month after she was found dead at age 34 in a San Francisco hotel on Jan. 1.

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner announced that Jones died due to the toxic effects of cocaine. The manner of death was ruled an accident.

Her family addressed the loss on Jan. 2, saying they appreciated the kind words, thoughts, and prayers and asked for privacy during the difficult time.

San Francisco police and the San Francisco Fire Department responded to a report of a medical emergency at the Fairmont San Francisco at 2:52 a.m. on Jan. 1. When they arrived, they found a deceased individual who was not publicly identified at the time. NBC Bay Area later reported that the woman was believed to be Jones, citing a police source.

Dispatch audio described the incident as an overdose with “color change.” In overdose cases, “color change” can refer to cyanosis—low oxygen levels in the blood, often linked to heart or lung issues—which may cause a blue or purple discoloration of the skin, lips, and nails, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Jones was the daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones and his ex-wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. The former couple also share a son, Austin Jones, 43.
