Former President Donald Trump has revealed a glimpse of his White House renovations, including updates to the historic Lincoln Bathroom.

On Friday, Oct. 31 — the 31st day of the ongoing government shutdown — Trump, 79, shared photos on Truth Social showing a completely remodeled Lincoln Bathroom featuring white marble and gold accents.

“I renovated the Lincoln Bathroom in the White House,” Trump wrote alongside a set of before-and-after photos. “It was renovated in the 1940s in an art deco green tile style, which was totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era.”

He added, “I did it in black and white polished Statuary marble. This was very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there!”

The Lincoln Bathroom, connected to the Lincoln Bedroom — a guest room on a private floor of the White House — is reserved for the president and family members. Since few photos of that area have ever been released, Trump’s post offered a rare glimpse inside the private living quarters. The completion date of the renovations remains unclear.

Trump had previously discussed the project. During remarks earlier this month about plans for a new White House Ballroom, he made similar comments about the bathroom’s original design.

“The bathroom was done by the Truman family a long time ago and done in green tile, and it’s done as — in a style that was not exactly Abe Lincoln,” he said. “It’s a style that is not good … it is actually art deco and art deco doesn’t go with 1850 and civil wars.”

He continued, “But what does do it is statuary marble. So I ripped it apart and we built a bathroom that’s absolutely gorgeous and totally keeping in that time because the Lincoln bedroom is so incredible for those of you who have seen it.”

Trump also noted that the Lincoln Bathroom isn’t the only place he’s added marble since returning to the White House after his inauguration on Jan. 20. He said he made similar upgrades to the Palm Room.

“[The room] had one-by-one tiles that were put there probably 20 years ago by somebody and they were broken and bad — it’s embarrassing. And I took it out and we did a magnificent bookmatched statuary marble floor,” he explained. “We fixed the room. We put up the proper lighting and chandeliers. People walk in, they can’t believe how beautiful it is, and so we had to fix it up.”

Earlier this month, Trump faced criticism after tearing down the White House’s East Wing as part of the construction of a new 90,000-square-foot, $300 million ballroom. On Oct. 20, crews began demolition, which Trump initially said would have only a minimal effect. However, by Oct. 23, the New York Times reported that the entire structure was scheduled to be replaced.

Sources say the redesigns aim to make the White House resemble Trump’s Palm Beach residence, Mar-a-Lago.

“Anytime Melania and Donald can make the White House feel more like Mar-a-Lago, they will,” one club member said. “They love Mar-a-Lago. Not only is it their home, but Donald personally created much of the current decor and takes pride in living there and showing it to other people.”
