New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu and former NFL lineman Hroniss Grasu’s Southern California home was burglarized on Monday, Dec. 15, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said two unidentified suspects broke into a residence in the Los Angeles area shortly after 8 p.m. local time, taking property before fleeing in an unknown direction. The homeowners were not inside at the time.

Investigators said a security alarm was triggered when someone used a tool to smash a glass door to gain entry. The LAPD has taken a report and is reviewing available security camera footage. As of Tuesday, authorities said no arrests had been made.

NBC 4 Los Angeles, citing authorities, reported the suspects were wearing ski masks and stole several handbags valued at roughly $60,000. Police did not publicly detail what items were taken.

The couple married in March 2024, after Grasu proposed in January 2023. In a May 2024 interview, Ionescu described the wedding as her offseason highlight, saying it gave them time to pause and celebrate.

Grasu was selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears and played seven seasons in the league, with his final season coming in 2023 as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders. Ionescu was the New York Liberty’s first overall pick in the 2020 WNBA draft and has earned All-WNBA honors each season since 2022.

The burglary is the latest in a string of reported robberies involving high-profile athletes, including cases tied to the families of Celtics star Jaylen Brown and WWE stars Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, along with Kansas City Chiefs players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
