A woman is feeling hurt after being left out of the celebrations for her sister’s milestone 50th birthday.
Sharing her story on the U.K.-based forum Mumsnet, she explained that her sister “had a birthday meal out with her friends, my siblings and our parents,” but she was never informed or included in the plans.
“This came as a complete surprise,” she wrote, adding, “No one mentioned it to me at all.”
Now, she’s seeking advice on what to do next, believing her family’s exclusion was intentional. “The photos aren’t hidden — of course I would see them,” she said.

The woman also mentioned she plans to visit her mother soon and is unsure whether she should bring up the situation with her siblings in their group chat. “Do I say something? What do I say? Anything? Or nothing?” she wondered.
In response, many Mumsnet users expressed sympathy, acknowledging her feelings of hurt and betrayal.
“This is a horrible way to have treated you,” one commenter wrote, while another added, “That is so sneaky and hurtful of them to do this.”
Others advised the woman to reconsider her upcoming visit with her mother, suggesting she take some time to process the exclusion before reconnecting with her family.
“I would cancel seeing her Monday and tell her you need time to process being excluded by all of them,” one user recommended.
Another commented, “I would cancel the meeting with your mother and stay away from all of them for now. They are all to blame. It’s nasty.”
