The ex-wife of a truck driver who was found dead inside the sleeper cab of his semi-truck in the Utah desert has now been charged in connection with his death.

Authorities allege that Jatinder Kaur Purewal encouraged Jaswinder Singh Dhillon to kill her ex-husband, Jaspinder Singh, in 2024, according to KUTV, KSL and ABC4.

Tooele County jail records show Purewal is being held on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, and obstruction of justice. As of Friday, Dec. 12, it was not immediately clear whether she has entered a plea.

Dhillon was arrested in 2024 and charged with aggravated murder and aggravated kidnapping, according to KUTV and FOX 13. Jail records indicate he is being held without bond.

Citing court records, KUTV, ABC4 and KSL reported that investigators claim Purewal had previously made threats to kill Singh. Charging documents also allege that Purewal’s daughter told authorities her mother was “very capable of killing her dad.”

ABC4 reported that Purewal’s daughter said she has a restraining order against her mother.

According to KUTV, Singh was found dead in September 2024 with his hands bound and stab wounds to his neck and lower extremities. Investigators said Singh had been followed by a car for at least 300 miles before his death, the outlet reported. That car was later located in Washington state, where Dhillon was arrested.

KSL reported that Singh’s body was discovered after a coworker noticed his GPS tracker had stopped moving. After Dhillon’s arrest, authorities allege Purewal made more than 30 calls to him, and the two professed their love for one another.

KSL also reported, citing court documents, that Purewal is married to a man who is not Dhillon.

Jail records show Purewal was booked into custody in Utah on Dec. 3, 2025. KSL reported she was initially arrested in California before being extradited.
