Amy Duggar King Breaks Down in Tears After Cousin Joseph’s Wife Kendra Was Also Arrested: ‘I Don’t Know What’s Going on’

The sprawling legal crisis surrounding the Duggar family intensified Friday with the arrest of Kendra Duggar, 27, just 48 hours after her husband, Joseph Duggar, 31, was taken into custody on charges of child molestation.

The Tonitown Police Department confirmed Kendra Duggar was booked on four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment, both in the second degree. Authorities state the investigation remains active as local and out-of-state agencies coordinate on a series of disturbing allegations.

The couple’s legal troubles began on March 18 when Joseph Duggar was arrested in Florida. He faces felony charges of lewd and lascivious molestation involving a victim under the age of 12, stemming from an alleged incident during a family vacation.

By March 20, the investigation crossed state lines back to Arkansas. Following a day-long search of the couple’s residence by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph was hit with additional charges identical to his wife’s: four counts of endangering a minor and four counts of false imprisonment.

Kendra Duggar is scheduled for an initial hearing on March 23 at 7:45 a.m., with a subsequent court appearance set for April 29.

Amy Duggar King, the niece of patriarch Jim Bob Duggar and a frequent critic of the family’s “toxic system,” addressed the arrests in an emotional social media broadcast on Friday.

“I just thought everyone should know that there’s more to this story,” King said through tears. “Our local news is saying that there’s more… I don’t know what it is though.”

In a formal statement, King expressed she was “utterly shocked” by the specific allegations but “not surprised” that another alleged predator had emerged from the family’s rigid social structure. She emphasized that “image protection” over truth creates environments where abuse can thrive.

These arrests represent the most significant legal blow to the 19 Kids and Counting stars since the 2021 conviction of Josh Duggar on child pornography charges. This current investigation, however, marks the first time a Duggar spouse has been criminally charged alongside their husband.

As the Tonitown Police Department continues its probe, the primary focus remains on the welfare of the four children residing in the Joseph Duggar household.
