At least ten people were hospitalized following a violent stabbing spree aboard a train in the United Kingdom.
The attack occurred around 7:42 p.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 1, when the British Transport Police (BTP) received reports of multiple stabbings on a train traveling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, according to a BTP news release. Armed officers and paramedics arrived swiftly, discovering ten injured passengers.
Authorities confirmed on Sunday that four victims have since been discharged from the hospital, while two remain in life-threatening condition. No deaths have been reported.
Two British nationals were arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, the BBC reported.
Passenger Olly Foster told the BBC he initially believed the chaos was a Halloween prank. “I saw people running through the carriage, telling me to do the same,” he said. “I put my hand on a chair to push myself forward, and when I looked down, it was covered in blood.”

Foster said several passengers pulled the emergency alarm as an older man tried to protect a younger girl from the attacker. “We ran up the platform,” he recalled. “When we got out of the station, there were already blue lights—police had arrived very quickly.”
Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the event “deeply concerning” in a post on X, expressing sympathy for the victims and gratitude toward first responders. “Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police,” he added.
King Charles and Queen Camilla released a statement on Instagram Stories saying they were “truly appalled and shocked” by the violence. “Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with all those affected and their loved ones,” the statement read. “We are particularly grateful to the emergency services for their response to this awful incident.”
A spokesperson for Kensington Palace also shared a message from Prince William and Kate Middleton: “The Prince of Wales asked me to express his and the Princess of Wales’ thoughts for the families and friends of all those impacted by the horrific events last night near Huntingdon. He also wishes to express his gratitude to the first responders and train staff who acted so swiftly.”

The BTP confirmed that the Counter Terrorism Police are assisting with the investigation. “This is a shocking incident and my thoughts are with those who have been injured and their families,” said Chief Superintendent Chris Casey.
“We’re conducting urgent inquiries to determine what has happened, and it may take some time before we can confirm details,” he continued. “At this early stage, it would not be appropriate to speculate on the causes of the incident.”
Casey added that the response at the station would remain ongoing. “Cordons are in place and trains are not currently running through the area, with some road closures also in effect. I thank the public for their patience and cooperation, which have greatly assisted our efforts.”
Huntingdon Station will remain closed, and police presence has been increased at other stations and on trains, the BTP said in an updated release.
