Flying with a baby is challenging on a good day — and it gets even trickier when a diaper disaster hits right as the seatbelt sign comes on.

That’s exactly what happened to Grazia Weldon while traveling recently with her infant daughter and husband. The family was on their way to Disney World when things suddenly went sideways.

“We’ve traveled with our little girl since she was 3 weeks old in our camper,” Weldon says. “But this trip was about getting her used to flying, so we booked a direct flight to Disney World.”

The flight was going smoothly until the pilot announced descent. That’s when Weldon’s husband looked down and realized their daughter was having a serious blowout — and with the seatbelt sign on, getting to the restroom wasn’t an option.

“Flying with an infant can be intimidating, and everything was going so well,” Weldon recalls. “Then my husband suddenly shouted, ‘She’s dripping on me!’ We had a massive diaper blowout while the seatbelt sign was mandatory.”

With no way to stand up, the couple had to think fast. Weldon grabbed what she had nearby and improvised a temporary solution.

“In a moment of sheer desperation, I pulled out a roll of Ubbi disposable bags, tore two leg holes in them, and slipped her right inside to contain the mess until we landed,” she explains.

Weldon later posted a video of the moment on TikTok, where it quickly went viral. In the clip, her daughter is wearing a pink onesie tucked into a purple disposable bag — a makeshift outfit that did the job.

“When you have a blowout mid-descent on our flight…,” Weldon wrote in her caption, explaining that she had to alert other passengers after landing so she could get to the bathroom quickly.

“The finale was making a public plea after the wheels stopped,” she says. “I had to hold her up and announce to the rows behind us, ‘Excuse me! My baby just had a blowout! I need to get to the bathroom — can you all sit down?’”

Thankfully, the passengers were understanding and let her through. Still, Weldon says the memory is one she won’t forget anytime soon.

“Everyone was great and let me pass, but I’ll never forget parading her down the aisle in her improvised travel outfit,” she says.

And despite the chaos, her daughter stayed calm the whole time.

“She was a trooper and didn’t make a peep,” Weldon adds. “It’s a trick I’ll share with every traveling parent from now on.”
