Lindsay Clancy is seeking to have her upcoming murder trial moved from Plymouth County to Boston, according to a motion filed in court this week.
The Massachusetts mother is currently scheduled to stand trial on February 9, facing three counts each of murder and strangulation in the deaths of her children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.
In a motion submitted on November 3, defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued that Clancy cannot receive a fair trial in Plymouth County due to “extensive media coverage” and the “prejudicial information” it has spread, as well as the “community disapproval” that coverage has provoked. “The unavoidable conclusion is that Lindsay Clancy cannot be given a fair trial in Plymouth County,” Reddington wrote in the filing.
The request for a venue change follows another motion filed a week earlier that seeks to delay the trial’s start date to May 11.

Clancy is accused of killing her three children before attempting to take her own life on January 24, 2023. Prosecutors allege that she carefully planned the act, referencing online searches she conducted in the days and hours leading up to the incident.
According to a search warrant, Clancy’s husband, Patrick, arrived home to find his wife had jumped from a window. While on the phone with 911, he reportedly discovered their children unresponsive inside the home. Cora and Callan were found in the den, and Dawson was discovered in Patrick’s home office, each with an exercise band around their neck. Patrick removed the bands and attempted CPR before emergency responders arrived. The warrant states that he shouted from the basement, “She killed the kids.”
Cora and Dawson were pronounced dead later that night at a nearby hospital, while Callan died two days later. Clancy survived her 20-foot fall but suffered severe spinal and rib injuries that left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Clancy has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Her defense maintains that she was not of sound mind due to postpartum depression and the combination of multiple medications prescribed by several doctors. Patrick told authorities that before the deaths, his wife was under the care of two physicians and taking Zoloft, Valium, Trazodone, Ativan, Klonopin, Prozac, and Seroquel, according to the warrant.
