A Michigan family is mourning the death of a young mother who was shot by her ex-boyfriend in front of their baby daughter, before he took his own life.

Police in Hamtramck responded to a shooting on Aug. 29 and found two people dead from gunshot wounds, the Hamtramck Police Department said in a statement.

The victim was identified by her family as Brianna Frame, 24, according to WDIV and a GoFundMe set up by the family. The Hamtramck Police Department did not name the victim or the shooter in its post but confirmed Brianna’s identity in an email to PEOPLE.

Her brother, Donald Frame, told WDIV that he witnessed the shooting.

“She’s screaming, and then I saw him shoot her in the face,” he said. “And then I went to grab my dad, and then I told him that she’s been shot.”

Brianna was killed by her ex-boyfriend in her parents’ home, her aunt, Michelle Lynn, wrote on Facebook. Donald said Brianna “had her whole life ahead of her.”

Her cousin, Alicia Lepkowski, said the shooting has left the family traumatized.

“Nobody should have to come back to the house and clean up a family member’s blood from the ground,” she told WDIV. “How do you even go on?”

According to Brianna’s obituary, her “life was her daughter and she enjoyed every minute of the 10 months she was able to raise her.”

In the GoFundMe Lepkowski set up to support Brianna’s daughter, Kameron, and help with funeral expenses, she wrote that she is “praying for every woman that is going through domestic violence.”
