Mary Trump, the niece of President Donald Trump, criticized her uncle in a new video after reports alleged that his son, Barron Trump, had a connection to controversial influencer Andrew Tate.

In a video posted to her Mary Trump Media YouTube channel, Mary Trump discussed recent reporting that tied Tate to people in the Trump orbit. Tate, 39, and his brother Tristan, 37, have faced accusations by Romanian authorities including rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal group for sexual exploitation. The brothers have denied wrongdoing.

Mary Trump also addressed claims that Donald Trump may have played a role in the Tate brothers being allowed to leave Romania in February and travel to the United States. The brothers were later seen attending a UFC event. At the time, the president denied involvement, saying, “I know nothing about that.”

In her commentary, Mary Trump referenced a New York Times report and said Tate spent years trying to build relationships with prominent conservatives and people close to Donald Trump. She argued that Tate’s online reach made him politically useful.

“And with his massive social media following, that’s all you need for Donald Trump to do whatever he can to make sure, regardless of the horrific crimes you’ve committed, you get to be free,” she claimed.

Mary Trump then turned to the reporting involving Barron Trump, 19, and suggested that admiration for Tate reflected poorly on the former president’s parenting.

“Now, imagine what kind of… oh gosh, what’s the word? Um, disgraceful, despicable parent you would need to be in order to think it’s okay for your son to listen to and admire a monster like Andrew Tate,” she said.

According to reports, Barron Trump is said to share a mutual friend with the Tate brothers: Justin Waller, who has referred to himself as their “third brother” and said he takes on a “big brother” role with Barron. Waller told the Times that Barron admired Tate and spoke with him over Zoom in 2024. The outlet also reported that Barron and Tate discussed a shared belief that the criminal cases against the brothers were efforts to silence them.

Mary Trump argued the controversy fits what she sees as a broader pattern. She described Donald Trump as a longtime misogynist and claimed he has repeatedly surrounded himself with people who share similar views, pointing to his past association with Jeffrey Epstein as an example.

She also said Donald Trump’s relationship with figures in the so-called “manosphere” has served a political purpose, claiming it helped him connect with a “young, predominantly white male audience.”

Mary Trump’s remarks follow other recent criticisms she has made about her uncle’s upbringing. In another video, she revisited her long-standing argument that Donald Trump’s father, Fred Trump Sr., deeply influenced his personality. She claimed the president “was never loved” by his father and described him as left with what she called a “black hole of need.”

Mary Trump, who is a psychologist, has previously described Fred Trump Sr. as a “patriarchal, authoritarian sociopath,” and argued that Donald Trump’s constant need for validation stems from emotional neglect.

“We are here because the one thing Donald most desperately needs, and has never gotten, and will never get because of how damaged and depraved his own father made him, is love,” she said.

She added that Trump is “incapable of growing, learning or evolving.”
