A newly engaged Wheel of Fortune contestant spun her way to a honeymoon-worthy windfall.
On the Jan. 5 episode of the long-running game show, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, contestant Alison kicked off Holland America Cruise Week in style. She first solved a puzzle to earn $2,000, then followed it up with another correct answer that secured her a Caribbean cruise package.
Her hot streak didn’t stop there. Advancing to the bonus round, Alison faced an eight-letter puzzle with just three letters revealed. After only a few seconds, she confidently offered her first guess—“backflip”—and nailed it, stunning Seacrest.
“What?! Did you surprise yourself with that?” the host asked as he revealed the prize card: an additional $45,000.
Alison leapt with excitement as her fiancé, Taylor, rushed in to hug her.
“How did you get to that so quickly?” Seacrest asked.
“I didn’t see another option,” Alison said. “I was like, ‘If it’s not backflip, I have nothing else to say.’”
Seacrest noted that Alison and Taylor hadn’t yet planned their honeymoon and told the couple they could now easily fund their dream trip. Her total winnings for the night came to $57,228.
During the episode, Seacrest also invited Taylor to share the story behind his proposal.
“I incorporated the chickens,” Taylor explained. “I took the ring, put it in a ceramic egg, set it in a hatching box, and when she saw the egg and walked outside, I was down on one knee.”

“Did pretty good,” Alison said with a smile.
Seacrest joked that Taylor had clearly been waiting a long time to tell that story on TV, adding, “Well done.”
The fun continued as the show’s crew played chicken sound effects while Alison approached the board for the bonus-round puzzle. Seacrest couldn’t resist one last joke: “That would run me off from the proposal right there. I would have been sprinting away.”
