Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a 34-year-old pregnant mother was found shot in her vehicle during Tuesday evening’s rush hour on Interstate 75.

Atlanta Police Department officers responded to reports of a person shot at approximately 6:15 p.m. along the northbound lanes of I-75, near the North Central Avenue SW exit and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered Bianca Huntley suffering from critical injuries.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Huntley died from a gunshot wound involving her arm and torso. While the victim was discovered on the highway, investigators do not believe the shooting originated there.

In a formal news release, Atlanta police stated that preliminary evidence suggests Huntley sustained her injuries at a “separate and currently unknown location” before coming to a stop on the interstate. Detectives are currently working to trace Huntley’s final movements to identify the primary crime scene and potential suspects.

Huntley, a mother of two daughters aged 5 and 14, was reportedly pregnant at the time of her death. She had relocated to Atlanta from North Carolina nearly a decade ago and had recently achieved significant professional milestones.

According to her mother, Gloria Allen, Huntley worked as a quality manager and had just received a promotion. She was driving home from work when the incident occurred.

“She was in the process of hiring a team when her life was tragically ended,” Allen told local reporters. “You’re talking about a light, a shining light that got snuffed out.”

While police have not officially named a suspect or established a motive, Allen stated she believes her daughter was specifically targeted. “My daughter will be vindicated,” she said, expressing faith that investigators will find those responsible.
