Professional golfer Tiger Woods was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle rollover collision in Martin County. The 15-time major champion, 50, was released on bond later that day after being booked on charges of DUI involving property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful physical test.

The Incident and Arrest

The crash occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. local time near Jupiter Island. According to Martin County Sheriff John M. Budensiek, Woods was operating a Land Rover when it collided with a pressure-cleaning truck towing a small trailer.

While the collision caused the Land Rover to roll over, authorities confirmed that neither Woods—who was alone in the vehicle—nor the driver of the truck sustained injuries.

During a Friday press conference, Sheriff Budensiek stated that responding officers found Woods “lethargic” and exhibiting “signs of impairment” at the scene. However, a breathalyzer test administered at the jail yielded “triple zeroes,” confirming that alcohol was not a factor in the incident. Woods reportedly refused to undergo a urinalysis to identify other potential intoxicants.

Photographs captured shortly after his release show a visibly distraught Woods departing the Martin County jail in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

The arrest follows Woods’ recent return to professional play. Earlier this week, he competed in the TGL finals with his team, Jupiter Links GC, marking his first competitive appearance in over a year.

A History of High-Profile Collisions

This incident adds to a documented history of vehicular accidents involving the golfer. Woods famously survived a high-speed rollover crash in Los Angeles in 2021, which resulted in severe leg injuries and required multiple surgeries. He was also involved in a high-profile single-car accident near his Florida home in 2009.

Investigators are currently reviewing evidence to determine the exact cause of the Friday collision, including whether Woods was wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact.

Representatives for Woods have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the charges. The investigation remains active, and additional updates are expected as toxicology and scene reconstruction reports are finalized.
